"Lap of the Gods"

For Ayrton Senna, the 1993 F1 Championship was looking to be a difficult task as the dominant Williams Renault team had recruited his arch-enemy Alain Prost and his McLaren MP4/8 was lacking both in technology and power from the customer Ford V8 engine.
Nonetheless, Senna proved his legendary status at the European Grand Prix held at Donigton Park in the UK. On a rain-soaked track, Senna started 4th and dropped to 5th, but then delivered what is now called "The Lap of the Gods", overtaking Karl Wendlinger, Michael Schumacher, Damon Hill and finally Alain Prost the secure the lead (and a two second gap) before the end of the first lap. An extraordinary and unforgettable display from a unique talent.
